Lobby Mission of HRFB during the UPR Working Group Session

Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) conducted a lobby mission in May 2018 during the 30th UPR Working Group Session where human rights situation in Bangladesh was reviewed for the third time. Sheepa Hafiza, Convener of HRFB and Executive Director of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) led the five members’ delegation which included Zakir Hossain, Chief Executive of Nagorik Uddyog, Shale Ahmed, Executive Director of Bandhu Social Welfare Society, Pallab Chakma, Executive Director of Kapaeeng Foundation, and ASK Staff and Forum Coordinator, Tamanna Hoq Riti. The delegation had meeting with several permanent missions, and shared their concerns and recommendations to overcome the challenges. There were discussions on why the government has been failing to implement most of the recommendations, as well as the role of civil society to continuously follow up and carry out effective lobbying with the government for implementation.
